Spring was in the air and we have been busy around the country doing what we love most, teaching and performing Tango. In April and May, as well as our regular London classes on Wednesdays and our residency at Tango Warwick on Fridays, we have also been delighted to join Katerina and Alan at Tango Cafe.

Tango Cafe is a brilliant space in Clapham on Saturday afternoons. We’ve joined them three times already and will be with them again on Saturday 4th June and Saturday 18 June. We teach a one hour lesson from 3-4 followed by a Milonga until 8pm. You will find a welcoming group of dancers and great music from Katerina!

England International Tango Festival

On the last Bank holiday weekend in April we joined the team of Tango Bootcamp down in Brighton for the weekend for the England International Tango Festival. It was a superb weekend of workshops, Milongas, performances and more. Videos to follow soon!

Miskin Milonga – Cardiff

We now visit Cardiff, Miskin Manor Hotel, once a month for a class followed by an afternoon Milonga. 23rd April was our first event, followed by a Spring Ball on 8 May, where we were spoiled by dancing in one of the most beautiful rooms of the hotel. We visited again on 28 May for another afternoon Milonga and couldn’t be happier with the support received and the wonderful welcome from local groups and dancers.

Our next Miskin Milongas are on Saturday 25 June, Saturday 23 July and Saturday 27 August. Classes start at 3-4pm followed by a Milonga until 7pm

Tango Ambassadors Cup

On 15 May, I was delighted to join the panel of judges for the annual Tango Ambassadors Cup held at the Argentine Residence. The competition was followed by a Milonga with dancers visiting from afar.

Norfolk Tango

It was a pleasure to visit Norfolk Tango on Sunday 22 May to teach two workshops during the afternoon followed by a tea dance. The weather was wonderful and it was fantastic to see such a great turn out!

As well as our regular classes in London on Wednesdays and on Fridays in Leamington Spa, we are delighted to have more exciting news this month.

On 2nd April we will be back teaching at The Tango Cafe with Katerina and Alan. The class starts at 3pm and we will be dancing to the music of Canaro. We will be regular visitors at Tango Cafe from now on 🙂

Miskin Milonga – On 23rd April we are starting a new partnership with Miskin Manor Hotel just outside of Cardiff. We will be working together to put on a monthly milonga in this beautiful setting with a class beforehand. The class will start at 3pm for one hour and the Milonga will continue until 7pm. Miskin Manor Hotel, CF72 8ND

Lastly but very excitingly we are proud to be part of the England International Tango Festival this year running in Brighton from 29th April, over the Bank Holiday weekend. We will be teaching five workshops over Saturday and Sunday and performing in the Grand Milonga on Saturday night. Brighton is a superb place to spend a Bank Holiday weekend and we would love to see you there!

March is warming up to be an exciting and very busy month at Tango y Nada Mas!

On 12th March we have been invited to join Warwick University’s Argentine Tango Society for their End of term Milonga. We will teach a one hour pre-milonga lesson before the Milonga, which continues until 2am! We will also perform during the evening.

It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and mingle and is open to the general public. All proceeds will go to charity and we hope you may be able to make it if you are in the area.

More details can be found on our facebook page.

On 19th March, we return to Suffolk Tango for an afternoon of workshops in Henley, Ipswich

On 26th March we return to Tango Northampton in Market Harborough, for an afternoon of milonga workshops. We will do two workshops, one concentrating on Milonga lisa vs traspie and in the second we will look at traspie lateral. This is followed by an evening milonga until midnight. More information can be found on Tango Northampton’s page as well as our own.

We will continue with our weekly Wednesday London classes at the Pill Box Kitchen and our weekly Friday classes as resident teacher with Tango Warwick. We hope to see you in one of these places. If not, we have exciting news for April too!

Ps a few photos of some memorable locations in the city, I haven’t sorted through them all yet!

…and we are now in the last week of our classes for 2021. It has been quite a year (or two!) but the last few months have been amazing. We have travelled the country teaching and performing and have had a wonderful few months, following such a long time without Tango.

We would like to thank all of our students and all of the organisers across the UK with whom we have built and are building strong relationships. A particular thanks must go out to David and Sue at Tango Warwick, where we are resident teachers every Friday evening. They work tirelessly for a strong and beautiful Tango community in the region and we are very grateful to be a part of it.

We have been fortunate to be regular teachers with other wonderful communities across the UK and also extend our thanks to Ann at Tango Cotswolds, where we have taught and built such good friendships over the years, to Cliff and Rosemary at Suffolk Tango, David and team and Tango Norfolk, Darren and Zoe at Tango Northampton and others who we are at the beginning of our journey with. We are looking forward to 2022!

Wednesday 8th December will be our last Tango y Nada Mas London and Friday 10th December will be our last visit to Tango Warwick of the year. We will both be in Buenos Aires for January and will see you all on our return. Yippee!!!!!

The weather may be getting chilly in October but its hotting up for Tango y Nada Mas. We have a busy few weekends ahead of us:

  • Friday 8th – Tango Warwick (our weekly Friday classes for all levels)
  • Saturday 9th – Tango Northampton – Market Harborough (two workshops followed by a Milonga)
  • Friday 15th – Tango Warwick
  • Saturday 16th – Tango Norfolk (class plus tea dance with live music!)
  • Friday 22 – Tango Warwick
  • Saturday 23 – Suffolk Tango (two workshops during the afternoon)

See our Facebook page for further details on the locations, venues and timings etc. We look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!

To ensure we have enough time to focus on Milonga and Vals as well as Tango, we will be working to a schedule from now on, a bit like tandas in a milonga.

  • 6th October – Tango
  • 13 October – Milonga
  • 20 October – Tango
  • 27 October – Tango
  • 3 November – Vals
  • 10 November – Tango
  • 17 November – Tango
  • 24 November – Milonga

Fundamentals class to re-open on Wednesday 27th October 2021

As part of the UK Argentine Tango Association’s Free Tango Week we are delighted to announce we will be re-starting our Fundamentals class on Wednesday 27th October at 6:45pm and every Wednesday thereafter. This first class will be FREE to all who attend, so come along and find out what Tango is all about. If you are already a student then tell your friends :-).

Our Fundamentals class is suitable for complete beginners upwards. We focus on the core elements of both roles (leading and following), walking, posture, embrace and musicality. The class will be held at The Pill Box Kitchen, Bethnal Green E2 6GG.

We still intend to start our Intermediate/technique class at 7:30pm as usual and it will involve 15 mins of merge time with the first class. This means that there will always be 15 mins of core work and it also allows the students who are less experienced to see and dance with more experienced students.

As well as our regular classes in London on Wednesday evenings at The Pill Box Kitchen, E2 6GG, we are also resident teachers at Tango Warwick on Friday evenings. This is an amazing group of people and we hold three classes during the evening for all levels. We teach private lessons on a Saturday morning, also in Leamington Spa and you can contact us on Luisyelitango@gmail.com if you would like to book. You can find more information on our Facebook page
